Anomalies in the temperature dependence of the 1.2-? absorption of liquid water

1975

The weakly absorbed 1.2-μ combination band of water was accurately studied as a function of temperature, in both its profile and first derivative, to obtain information on the bulk properties of liquid water. Arrhenius plots of integrated component intensity ratios showed well aligned experimental points, except for a neatly defined break occurring in the 30 to 40°C temperature interval for pure water A similar break, shifted by some 18°C towards lower temperature, was found in the case of 1M NaClO4 aqueous solutions. The breaks are tentatively assumed to result from abrupt though subtle changes involving low-frequency modes. This tentative, assumption appears independent of specific models…

Schmelz- und kristallisationserscheinungen bei makromolekularen substanzen. VI. Ergebnisse der röntgenklein- und weitwinkeluntersuchungen an polyglyk…

1962

Modeling the isothermal inactivation curves of Listeria innocua CECT 910 in a vegetable beverage under low-temperature treatments and different pH le…

2015

Thermal inactivation kinetics of Listeria innocua CECT 910 inoculated in a vegetable beverage at three pH conditions (4.25, 4.75, and 5.20), four levels of temperature (50, 55, 60, 65℃), and different treatment times (0–75 min) were obtained. Survival curves did not follow a log-linear relationship and consequently were fitted to various mathematical models: Weibull, Geeraerd, Cerf with shoulder, and the modified Gompertz equation. Results indicated that the best model for the treatment conditions was the modified Gompertz equation, which provides the best goodness-of-fit and the lowest Akaike information criterion value. Sensitivity analysis indicated that the most influential factors affe…

Influence of Axial Pressure on the Electrical Properties of Li0.06Na0.94NbO3 Ceramic

2011

Lead-free ceramic Li0.06Na0.94NbO3 was synthesized using a conventional solid-state processing. The single-phase perovskite structure was identified by X-ray powder diffraction technique. The values of lattice parameters of Li0.06Na0.94NbO3 are lower than those for pure NaNbO3. The EDS analysis shows the fairly homogeneous distribution of all elements throughout the grains. An axial pressure significantly influences electric properties. With increasing pressure the peak intensity in the ϵ(T) curve decreases, the peak becomes diffused and shifts to a lower temperature. The value of tanδ increases with increasing axial pressure and its local maximum shifts towards lower temperatures.

Effect of physical aging on the low-frequency vibrational density of states of a glassy polymer

2003

The effects of the physical aging on the vibrational density of states (VDOS) of a polymeric glass is studied. The VDOS of a poly(methyl methacrylate) glass at low-energy (<15 meV), was determined from inelastic neutron scattering at low-temperature for two different physical thermodynamical states. One sample was annealed during a long time at temperature lower than Tg, and another was quenched from a temperature higher than Tg. It was found that the VDOS around the boson peak, relatively to the one at higher energy, decreases with the annealing at lower temperature than Tg, i.e., with the physical aging.

Hydrothermally Synthesized Strontium Peroxyapatite

2015

The current research focuses on peroxide ion incorporation in the structure of strontium hydroxyapatite (SrHAp) by exposure to H2O2 ina closed hydrothermal vessel under mild conditions at 130 to 170 °C. Peroxide enriched strontium apatite (SrPerAp) was characterized for structure by X-Ray diffraction, for peroxide content- by permanganometric titration and then viewed by SEM. This study continued from previous work that used 30%H2O2 and showed a higher included peroxide content after processing with 50% H2O2 at 130 °C 70% of the theoretical peroxide content in apatitic channels of strontium apatite. This is the highest peroxide content incorporated to date and employs a lower temperature th…
